12 Feelings Through 2013 - Alive | Katy Houston Photographer

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us ALIVE with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.
Ephesians 2:4-5

2013 | March | What HOME Looks Like | Katy Houston Photographer

Home has so many meanings and so many different looks.
I have not captured as many as I would like to have to show you what home means to me.
Home is my grandparents house in Tennessee.  Home is my church where my brothers and sisters in Christ meet together to worship our King!  Home is a feeling of friendship and love.  Home is a colorful place.  Home is cozy and warm.  Home is where there are always messes and maids are desired.  Home is where we can be ourselves and wear comfy clothes...or in the little ones' cases no clothes.  Home is where my doggie drools all over the back step waiting to be fed.  Home is where there is always remodeling in progress and nothing is ever complete.  Home is where my family feels safe and secure.  Home is where we play.  Home is where we long to be after being away too long.  Home is where I cuddle up with my precious babies.  Home is where I belong.

12 Feelings Through 2013 - Love | Katy Houston Photographer

I cannot begin to do justice to our theme ....Love.  I can't do it with one photograph, and I couldn't do it with a million.

What can I say of something that is Godly, that is beyond our complete understanding...that is such a beautiful thing words nor pictures could every fully describe.

If  I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.  If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.  If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.  But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.  For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears.  When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child.  When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.  Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face.  Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love.  But the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:1-13

Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
1 John 4:8

Well, this could be an actually endless post, so I will just stop here.

Wishing you all the perfect, unconditional love of our Father.  May you experience His love in mighty ways this year!

Here is my feeble attempt at showing you a tiny symbol of love this February.

12 feelings through 2013 - nostalgic | Katy Houston Photographer

Welcome to this year's personal project!  Along with many talented ladies, I am embarking on a year of feelings!  This week we wish to reflect on the past....therefore our theme is nostalgia.
Please excuse my flat lighting and my centered image....it turned out EXACTLY how I wanted it to!
This image speaks nostalgia to me.  I remember being about this age when I sat by my mom's side every night watching her put rollers in her hair!  It seems like she did this forever.
The image of my 8 year old speaks volumes to me because I see myself in her at this age. I love knowing that I am a part of her.....God knows she is a part of me!
